Q3Test1 Guide

Weapons:
For this map there are really only 3 weapons.

1. The Rocket Launcher

The RL is perfect for this rather traditional level.  With it's short corridors and confined spaces it's easy to nail your opponent with a    well placed shot.  The thing to remember is not to go for direct hits, ALWAYS aim at your opponents feet, that way, when you miss, they generally still take some "collateral damage" from the splash of your rocket detonating.  Thankfully, Q3A still doesn't have locational damage, so a shot to your prey's feet is just as damaging as one to his head, and WAY more likely of actually connecting.

2. The Machine Gun

As usual this sweet-arse default weapon comes through again.  With the abundance of MG ammo in this level, it's very rare you have to resort to the less than desirable guantlet.  The MG is hit scan (instant hit) so it's pretty easy to use, and although fairly weak, can easily take out a newly spawned player (assuming you have a fair wad of ammo, and more importantly, that you can out-circle-strafe him).   Remember, this baby has no splash damage (duh) so you have to hit your target or it has no effect.

3. Plasma Rifle

This thing rocks.  No two ways about it.  5 or 6 of those icky purple things and you can say goodbye to pretty much anyone.  The trouble of course, is hitting anything.  These projectiles are so f'ing slow, you have to lead (fire ahead of your target) by a good deal if you expect to hit anything.  Once again, the splash damage from these is negligible so aim at him, not his feet.

The rest of the weapons are pretty much novelty value only (IMHO), though the shotgun packs a fair wallop at close range.  Good if you're close up, and lacking rockets.  I would include the rail gun in my favourites but we are talking modem enabled net play here so....
